Notes

  • Do not use on face, groin, axilla except for least potent for defined periods of time due to skin atrophy, striae, hypopigmentation, and other cosmetic changes
  • Occlusive dressings promote cutaneous hydration and significantly increase absorption and potency, can enhance topical corticosteroid potency by as much as 100-fold
  • Ointments generally more potent than other formulations
  • Potent steroids can cause systemic effects, use with caution especially if using in large body surface area
